Synonyms: Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-Succinamide Succinimidyl ester; Four-Arm PEG-SAS; Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-SAS

Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-Succinamide Succinimidyl ester (4-Arm PEG-SAS) is a multiarm PEG derivative with succinimidyl NHS ester groups at each terminal of the four arms connected to one pentaerythritol core. PEG-SAS (succinimidyl succinamide ester) is one type of PEG-NHS reagents. It acts as an MPEG -NHS ester reagent and there is a C2 aliphatic amide bond between PEG and NHS ester. In addition, SAS has a longer hydrolysis half-life and is therefore more stable in aqueous buffers than many other types of NHS esters. Four arm polyethylene glycol derivatives have a variety of active groups that can be used to modify proteins, peptides and other materials through their functional groups. It is widely used in the modification of polyethylene glycol (PEG) in various biological nanomaterials.
