HS-PEG-NH2 has two different activated terminal groups. Sulfhydryl is widely used in gold nanoparticles or gold film modification. Stable oxime ether linkages can be formed with maleimide at pH 6.5-7.5. The amino group can modify the carboxyl group. Heterobifunctionalized PEG derivatives are used in cell culture, pharmaceutical research, drug delivery and release, nanotechnology and new materials.
