Cholesterol-PEG-MAL is a heterobifunctional polyethylene glycol. It has amphipathic properties. Cholesterol can form liposomes to increase the cycle time of encapsulated drugs. The Maleimide can selectively modify proteins, peptides or any other surface. They can also be used for non-viral transfection reagents. Heterobifunctional PEG can be attached to different molecules or materials to extend the richness of different molecular combinations.
