Cholesterol-PEG-DBCO is a heterobifunctional polyethylene glycol. It has amphipathic properties. Cholesterol can form liposomes to increase the cycle time of encapsulated drugs. They can also be used for non-viral transfection reagents. Heterobifunctionalized PEG derivatives are used in cell culture, pharmaceutical research, drug delivery and release, nanotechnology and new materials.
