Cholesterol-PEG-DBCO is a heterobifunctional polyethylene glycol. It has amphipathic properties. Cholesterol can form liposomes to increase the cycle time of encapsulated drugs. They can also be used for non-viral transfection reagents. Heterobifunctionalized PEG derivatives are used in cell culture, pharmaceutical research, drug delivery and release, nanotechnology and new materials. Heterobifunctional PEG can be attached to different molecules or materials to extend the richness of different molecular combinations.
