Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-octadecyl pyridyldisulfide (4-Arm PEG-OPSS) is a multiarm PEG derivative with octadecyl pyridyldisulfide groups at each terminal of the four arms connected to one pentaerythritol core. It is usually a solid powder or particle, which needs to be protected by inert gas and dissolved in some organic reagents. Four arm polyethylene glycol derivatives have a variety of active groups that can be used to modify proteins, peptides and other materials through their functional groups. The PEG terminal has an OPSS (ortho-pyridyl disulfide) group, also called PDP (pyridyldisulfide propionic acid), which is reactive with thiol, sulfhydryl, mercapto, SH or cysteine. PEG can enhance the solubility and stability, reduce the non-specific binding of charged molecules, and reduce the immunogenicity of peptides.
