Background
Synonyms: Polyethylene glycol octadecyl ether carboxyl acid
C18-PEG-COOH is a lipid and amphiphilic PEG derivative, one end is a hydrophilic group -COOH, and the other end is a hydrophobic group -C18 (common hydrophobic groups are generally more than eight carbon atoms The non-polar hydrocarbon chain). In C18-PEG-COOH, PEG is connected to the C18 alkyl group through an ether group. It can be used to form micelles and drug delivery systems, helping enhance drug solubility and improve drug ratio and bioavailability. The -COOH group can easily form a stable amide bond with an amino group, and also form an ester bond with a hydroxyl group, therefore C18-PEG-COOH is often applied to modify a variety of proteins and polypeptides.
