Group Protected PEG

The functional group at the end of the molecular chain of a Group Protected PEG is protected by a protective group. These protectors include Boc, Fmoc and small molecule. For example, the amine group in Fmoc-NH-PEG-SCM is protected by the Fmoc group. After the reaction, the Fmoc protective group is removed, and the two reactive end groups can react with different drug molecules, thus forming PEG connecting the two drug molecules. Protected amines can be regenerated under weakly alkaline conditions. In addition, the Boc group in Boc-NH-PEG-COOH can be de-protected under acidic conditions to release free amines for further reaction.
