Norbornene-PEG-Norbornene is a liner homobifunctionalized PEG derivative. Norborne is often used in transition metal catalysis to affect the migration of electrophilic transition metals. It also can undergo catalytic hydration reactions. The PEG is a highly hydrophilic molecule containing a large amount of ethoxy groups, which causes high hydrodynamic volume in aqueous solution. Drug PEGylation can alter its dispersity and solubility in aqueous solutions.
