mPEG-Benzaldehyde (methoxy polyethylene glycol benzaldehyde) is a monofunctional PEG derivative containing an amine-reactive aromatic aldehyde group. It is primarily used as a PEGylation and bioconjugation reagent for site-selective modification of proteins, peptides, and other amine-containing biomolecules, where the aldehyde can react with primary amines to form Schiff bases that can be further reduced to stable C-N bonds. The aromatic aldehyde also provides relatively good aqueous stability compared with some aliphatic PEG aldehydes.
