MA-PEG-MA has two identical activated terminal groups. Homobifunctionalized PEG derivatives have wide applications in peptides, proteins, lipids, other small molecules and surface modifications. The PEG is a highly hydrophilic molecule containing a large amount of ethoxy groups, which causes high hydrodynamic volume in aqueous solution. Drug PEGylation can alter its dispersity and solubility in aqueous solutions. MA-PEG-MA also used to form a hydrogel.
