18-(Bromoacetamido-PEG3-ethylcarbamoyl)heptadecanoic acid has a bromide group on a PEG linker with a alkane tail that has a carboxylic acid group. The bromide (Br) can be used as a leaving group for nucleophilic substitution reactions. The terminal carboxylic acid can react with primary amine groups in the presence of activators (e.g. EDC, or HATU) to form a stable amide bond. 18-(Bromoacetamido-PEG3-ethylcarbamoyl)heptadecanoic acid is a self-assembling PEG reagent which may form micelles in water. This compound may also be used as a building block for lipids in nanotechnolgy and drug delivery.
