DOPE
DOPE (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) is a zwitterionic phospholipid with two unsaturated oleoyl chains, imparting high fusogenicity and a tendency to form non-lamellar structures under certain conditions. These characteristics make DOPE particularly valuable in liposome formulations designed for cargo release, as it promotes membrane destabilization and fusion in response to environmental triggers. It is extensively used in gene delivery and as a helper lipid in nanoparticle systems where efficient endosomal escape is required.
Structure of 4004-05-1
