DSPE-PEG-NH2 is a linear heterobifunctional PEG reagent with DSPE phospholipids and amino groups at both ends of the molecular chain. DSPE-PEG-NH2 is used to modify the surface of liposomes by biomolecules containing amine reactive groups (NHS, mercaptans). It is a useful self-assembled reagent for the preparation of grafted or PEGylated liposomes or micelles, and also provides amine groups for bioconjugation. DSPE-PEG-MAL is an excellent liposome forming material for drug delivery, gene transfection and vaccine delivery. Polyethylene glycolation of phospholipids significantly improved the circulation time and the stability of encapsulated drugs.
