Pyrene-PEG-Rhodamine, with a pyrene and a Rhodamine at each end of the molecular chain, is a fluorescent heterofunctional PEG derivative. It can label proteins, antibodies, peptides, nucleic acids or particles. pyrene is a unique fluorescent dye with an exceptionally long excited state lifetime (>100 ns). The long excited state lifetime of this dye allows it to be used in time-resolved fluorescent immunoassays to detect oxygen in cells and lipid vesicles. Rhodamine is a biologically common red fluorescent dye tracer used to stain cells, tissues, biomarkers, or nanoparticles. It has peak fluorescence emission at 572-575 nm. Heterobifunctional PEG can be attached to different molecules or materials to extend the richness of different molecular combinations. Also used in cell culture, drug research, drug delivery and release, nanotechnology and new materials.
