Epoxide-PEG-Epoxide

Synonyms: Epoxide-polyethylene glycol-Epoxide

Epoxide-PEG-Epoxide is a linear polymer containing epoxy groups at both ends of the molecular chain, which is a type of PEG reagent. It's soluble in water, DMSO, DMF. It can usually cross link or polyethylene glycolate molecules containing amines or hydroxyl groups with the substrate surface through epoxy ring-opening reaction. Epoxide-PEG-Epoxide can be used to modify proteins, peptides or any other surface that has available amino or hydroxyl groups and it reacts readily with amines at a pH of 8.0 to 9.5. After it reacts with drugs, it can change the dispersity and solubility of drug molecules in solution. At the same time, PEG forms a spatial barrier around drug molecules and reduces the enzymatic hydrolysis of drugs.
