Methoxypolyethylene glycol-hydrazide (mPEG-Hydrazide) is usually a white solid or viscous liquid, depending on the molecular weight. It is soluble in organic solvents DMSO, DMF, DCM, but also soluble in water. Hydrazine-functionalized polyethylene glycol (PEG NHNH2) is an active polyethylene glycol derivative, which can modify proteins, polypeptides and other materials by carboxyl group (-COOH) or other amine active chemical groups. It also reacts quickly with carbohydrate residues. PEG modification can increase the solubility and stability of the peptide and protein, and decrease the immunogenicity. It also inhibits nonspecific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface. Therefore, it is widely used in the modification of protein drugs.
